Man and Machine
Was thinking of the title Agent Coworkers when this old album came to mind, and adding a Kraftwerk reference is always good in itself!
Agent Coworkers
Working with agents opposed to humans, rather well fit the idiom "same, same but different".
You need to be able to communicate with both kinds. The agent takes orders and reply, which in the most cases wouldn't be a good strategy toward human colleagues, a more diplomatic approach is warranted...
When watching the agent "thinking" process, it sometimes feels like a display on my own thought process written out loud. For us humans to be able to understand it is quite verbose.
Here are some excerpts from opencode.
Glad it landed well — honestly it was more fun on this end too.
Let me reconcile the todo list — actually I haven't used one.
Actually, hold on.
Actually, let me not over-analyze.
Actually, wait.
Actually, you know what -
Actually, I've spent enough.
Actually actually — let me reconside
You're right — I got confused.
, which I failed to do again. This is worth reinforcing,
The last line is interesting, do you think the agent took a note of the change needed?
No, it didn't! I had to ask for that to be done. Really humanlike behaviour I think!
To not over-analyze also applies just as well for humans.
Actually, actually is quite interesting. Working with colleagues from Sri Lanka for many years, I have pondered a bit over why actually, actually is so commonly used to start a sentence with.
Unexpected replies, can be what makes you think in another angle of a current task. Humans has an advantage here since we don't really have any algorithmic rules to stop what first might seem totally unrelated, but later actually turns out to be a game changer.
When reasoning, you can almost be sure that if you explain the issue well enough, an agent will find the solution. Humans doesn't come with that guarantee!
Agents don't compete over coffee resources, which is good if the supply is running low, but the chit-chat around the coffee machine with your office colleagues is an energy boost in itself.
And when it comes to after work, well, its no place for agents!
So, let agents run the code assembly line and us humans form a think-tank where new amazing creative ideas will keep the code machine steaming on. That will make a great team!

Editors note: Together with a friend at Way out West once, we where dressed up in black and red outfits and got published in an English music publication! We stood a few meters from the front speakers, but with ear-plugs it was a good volume, and the base really felt as wind gusts, especially in the costume trousers!
